Amazon EBS will be undergoing system maintenance on February 16th, from 1:30 AM to 1:45 AM PST. During the maintenance customers may notice an increase in 500 errors for requests to create, attach, detach and delete volumes. The creation of snapshots from volumes will also temporarily return a 500 error code. All other requests to the Amazon EC2 API will continue to be processed normally.

Feb 16 1:40 AM PST We have completed the scheduled maintenance to Amazon EBS.

The issue has been resolved. Requests to describe newly created resources was delayed between 9:06AM PST and 9:40AM PST. The service is now operating normally.

We are investigating delays in newly created resources being immediately available for describe calls in the US-EAST-1 Region. All other requests to the API are functioning normally. Running instances are not impacted.

API error rates in the US-EAST-1 Region have now recovered. The service is operating normally.

We can confirm that we are experiencing elevated error rates for EC2 API calls in US-EAST-1 Region. There is no impact to running instances. We are continuing to investigate this issue.

We have identified a router that was causing brief connectivity issues (two ten minute periods) for a very small set of instances in a single Availability Zone in the US-EAST-1 Region. We have removed the problematic router and the service is operating normally.

We are investigating intermittent connectivity issues for some instances in a single US-EAST-1 availability zone.

The issue has been resolved. Newly created resources are now immediately available for describe calls. The service has been functioning normally for the last 25 minutes (since 2:45am PST).
