We are investigating elevated error rates for EBS API calls in the US-EAST-1 Region.
From 2:29 PM to 2:55 PM PDT some customers experienced an increase in latencies and error rates for requests to the Amazon EC2 APIs in the US-EAST-1 region. At no time were running instances or volumes affected during this issue. The service is operating normally.
Network connectivity between instances has been restored. An increase in packet loss caused by a failing networking component was the cause of the connectivity issue. The service is now operating normally.
We are continuing to work to restore network connectivity to affected instances.
We can confirm there is an issue affecting network connectivity between a small set of instances in a single Availability Zone in the US-EAST-1 region. Internet connectivity is not affected by this issue.
We are investigating an issue with network connectivity between instances in a single Availability Zone.
We have deployed the fix and connectivity is now restored for all EBS volumes. Error rates around API calls to create new EBS volumes and snapshots have now dropped and the service is operating normally.
We are continuing to work to restore connectivity to all EBS volumes. Connectivity has now been restored to all but a few remaining volumes.
We have identified the root cause of the issue and are deploying a fix. Connectivity has now been restored to most of the affected EBS volumes.
