On Monday, April 16, we sent you an email regarding upcoming changes to the SoftLayer CDN platform. If you haven’t had a chance to review this email, please be aware of the following changes.
SoftLayer recently partnered with a new CDN provider. This new relationship will provide improved performance and extend the exceptional level of service that you have come to expect from SoftLayer.
This will not change your current CDN services. However, due to certain characteristics of your account, we cannot move your content with our automated tools and must ask you to migrate your data.
We’ve created an account for you with our new provider. You can access it through the Customer Portal just as you do now. For instructions on how to move your account, read this article. (http://knowledgelayer.softlayer.com/questions/565/CDN+Migration+to+new+hosting+platform+Mar-2012)
You will need to move your data from the old account to the new within 60 days. Beginning Friday, June 22 , any data left in the old account will be no longer accessible.
We know that a change like this can cause some concerns. We are confident that you will appreciate the advantages this transition will bring, but if you have any questions or would like to speak with us, please call 866.398.7638 or update this ticket.

Legacy Network Maintenance – car03.dllstx6 Reboot [4902050] [05/04/2012]

Impact Statement: This will result in a network outage for all servers downstream of this device. The network outage is expected to be 30 minutes.

Scheduled Maintenance – Legacy Planet Dallas Dark Fiber Provider Circuit Migration [4793287] [04/10/2012]

Change Activity Details:
Our dark fiber circuit provider for the Legacy Planet DAL02 & DAL06 uplinks to the DAL03 network PoP is performing migration work, which involves moving all of the physical links between these facilities to alternate fiber paths.
Impact Statement:
These moves are planned in such a way as to minimize any risk of service impact for customer servers in the Legacy Planet DAL02 & DAL06 facilities, by only moving inactive members of the redundant fiber system. However there is a remote possibly that all links between DAL03 and DAL02/DAL06 could be lost during this window, e.g. if the redundancy switchover does not complete successfully. In the unlikely event that this may happen, all customer servers in DAL02/DAL06 will experience a brief disruption of Internet connectivity until the redundant dark fiber path is restored.

To prevent an unplanned outage resulting in significant downtime, Engineers will be replacing fcs111b.sr01.dal07 during an Emergency maintenance window.
During this maintenance, customer servers will not have redundant access on the public network. Private connectivity will NOT be effected by this maintenance (iSCSI, DNS, NAS, etc). While the maintenance window is set for 4 hours, we expect no downtime for customer servers.
Again, NO downtime is expected on the private network.
