Cloud Sites | Preventative Data Center Maintenance for WC1, DFW | March 21, 00:01-02:00 CST
The Rackspace Cloud will be performing preventative power maintenance in our Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) data center on Sunday, March 21, 2010. The maintenance window is scheduled from 00:01 to 02:00 CST (06:01-08:00 GMT), during which time we expect little impact for Cloud customers (at most, some Cloud Sites services for customers hosted on our WC1 cluster may be in a degraded state for up to 15 minutes). Cloud Sites customers in SAT and DFW, WC2 will be unaffected.
Maintenance Window Schedule:
March 21, 2010 starting at 00:01-02:00 CST (06:01-08:00 GMT)
Why are we conducting this maintenance?
In order to ensure ideal conditions exist to promote maximum uptime, Rackspace monitors power utilization, cooling efficiency, and port density in all of our data center facilities. In order to complete the Power Factor Upgrade in our DFW data center, power cables from one circuit to another must be migrated. During a previous maintenance on the UPS clusters, technicians upgraded the fans and power supplies with more efficient equipment. These new fans and power supplies draw less power, which in turn releases more capacity to be available on the UPS cluster. In order for the system to recognize this additional power, firmware was upgraded on each UPS cluster. The final step of this maintenance is to migrate the power cables from one circuit to another.

Informational message: Connectivity issues
From 12:45am PST to 4:18am PST, we experienced intermittent connectivity issues between availability zones for a small number of instances in the EU-WEST-1 region. We have corrected the issue and the service is operating normally.
